Lillah / Sadaqah / Charity Donations Now Eligible for Section 18A Tax Certificates
We are pleased to announce that Lillah / Sadaqah / Charity contributions made to Qurtuba Islamic Academy are now eligible for Section 18A tax certificates. These contributions will directly support a dedicated bursary fund aimed at sponsoring a deserving learner for their full high school journey.
How the Bursary Works
- All Lillah / Sadaqah / Charity contributions are collected into a dedicated bursary fund.
- Once the fund has sufficient resources to sponsor a learner for five years of high school, the bursary will be awarded.
- The bursary covers the identified learner’s school fees for their entire high school period.
- Candidates are carefully selected based on predetermined criteria.
- Donors may choose to remain anonymous or be acknowledged. If the donor permits, recipients will be informed of who has supported them.
- Contributions may cover the full journey or any portion of it.
- All qualifying Lillah / Sadaqah / Charity donations will receive a Section 18A certificate.
About the Section 18A Certificate
A Section 18A certificate allows donors to claim a tax deduction when submitting their annual tax return, reducing taxable income. This does not refund the donation, but it may reduce the amount of tax payable. Receiving a Section 18A certificate for Lillah / Sadaqah / Charity donations is permissible, provided the intention remains to benefit the learners and not solely to obtain a tax benefit.
